OHIO STATE TOPS NOTRE DAMEBehind Ezekiel Elliott’s four touchdown runs, the Ohio State Buckeyes defeated Notre Dame, 44-28, in the 2016 Battlefrog Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona.
Elliott’s scoring spree tied the Fiesta Bowl touchdown record and his 149 yards in his final game as a Buckeye made him the second all-time rushing leader at the school.
Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said Elliott is “as good as any running back I’ve been around.”
Buckeyes Quarterback J.T. Barrett, selected offensive MVP, threw for 211 yards a touchdown and ran for another 96 yards
The seventh-ranked Buckeyes (12-1) had seven red zone possessions and they got points out of all of them (four touchdowns and three field goals).
The No. 8 Fighting Irish (10-3) had some good Offensive moments behind DeShone Kizer, but couldn’t match Ohio State’s Offensive juggernaut.
“It’s been a wild journey with this team, something I couldn’t even imagine,” Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple said.
Apple won the game’s Defensive MVP trophy.
With their 50th victory, Ohio State’s senior class is tied for being the winningest class in college football history.
